JANUARY 2022

January 7, 2022: First Fridays at Sacred Heart This is a beautiful tradition of the Church dating back to the 17th century. It is centered around a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an image that expresses the immense love that He has for His people. As the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, we want to bring an increased awareness of this devotion to our parishioners and the greater community. Every 1st Friday of the month you are invited to join us for Mass at 6:30pm, then light bites, drinks, and a presentation from Father Jeff: Our Lady of Victory: The Rosary as a Medieval Weapon for Modern Spiritual Warfare.

January 18, 2022: Candlelight Adoration - held at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (1111 St. Joseph Pkwy., Houston, TX 77002) our sanctuary will be filled with natural candlelight as we bring back Candlelight Adoration. Come adore our Eucharistic Lord in an intimate setting.  Our Schola Cantorum will provide beloved Adoration music spanning from the Renaissance, to Romantic France, to the 21st century.  Join us for this special night of prayer and invite a friend! 

January 20, 2022: Cafe Catholica Lite-  Will be held in person at St. Joseph Church (1505 Kane St, Houston) from 7:00-8:45 pm. Our speaker is Chris Donatto from Adore Ministries. His topic will be “Do You Love Your Neighbor: Living Community.” The night will include lite snacks, the talk, Q&A, and communal prayer. The talk will be available to view online as well (link available online at www.archgh.org/cafecatholica).

January 22, 2022: National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn- The Archdiocese will host a morning of prayer and adoration at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart from 8:30am-10:45am, followed by Mass with Cardinal DiNardo at 11am. All are invited to join us in prayer for the legal protection of the unborn. For more details call the Office of Pro-Life activities at 713-741-8728.

January 22, 2022: Texas Rally for Life - The Office of Pro-Life Activities will offer transportation to Austin, TX for the annual Texas Rally for Life event on Saturday, January 22, 2022. January 2022 marks 49 years since Roe v. Wade. Join thousands of Texans march in support for each human life! The trip cost is $40 and includes a Buc-ee’s stop to and from Austin. February 4-6, 2022: Regnum Christi: Silent Retreat-This is a coed spiritual exercises retreat offered once a year to help young adults hear God’s voice in all circumstances of life. It will be held at the Christian Renewal Center in Dickinson. Cost is $215 and space is limited. For more information go to www.rcyahouston.com/events.

February 5, 2022: Jerome’s Hope Retreat- The Office of Pro-Life Activities will offer the next ‘Pierced by Sorrow, Released into Joy’ retreat. This is a single-day retreat for parents following miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant loss. This retreat is part of the Jerome’s Hope ministry. February 7, 2022: Bioethics Seminar for Young Adults- All young adults are invited to participate in a 4-week Bioethics Seminar held in person at St. Dominic Chancery (2403 Holcombe Blvd.) on Mondays from 7-9 pm starting on February 7. Why does the Church say “no” to contraception?  What does the Church teach about in-vitro fertilization? Is abortion okay when the mother’s life is in danger? Navigating these issues can be confusing. Come to these classes to learn more about what the Church teaches and why. Classes are led by Julie Dienno-Demarest, a theology and bioethics teacher from St. Thomas High School. Register today at www.archgh.org/yabioethics!  Registration cost is $35/person. February 5, 2022: Lady in Waiting Virtual Seminar- from 9 to 11 a.m. Family Life Ministry cordially invites you to a virtual seminar that teaches mothers and daughters what occurs within a girl’s body as she prepares for her first menstrual period (fmp). February 16, 2022: Synod on Synodality- All young adults are invited to join us for the upcoming Synod on Synodality discussion at St. Dominic Chancery (2403 Holcombe Blvd.) from 7-9 pm. Pope Francis is inviting all the People of God to participate in this synod process in order to discover where the Spirit is working in individual hearts and in the Church as a whole. Come share your thoughts on how the church has journeyed with you! No cost to attend. Registration is required. Please register by February 13. February 18-20, 2022: Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat- The Office of Pro-Life Activities will offer the next Rachel’s Vineyard retreat for post-abortion healing.  This retreat is part of Project Rachel’s ministry. ENERO 2022

22 de enero 2022: Vigilia Pastoral de Jóvenes Adultos Arquidiocesana -Acompañen a los jóvenes adultos de la Pastoral Juvenil Hispana de la Arquidiócesis de Galveston-Houston en Adoración Eucarística el sábado, 22 de enero de 2022 de 5pm a 12 am en el Centro Católico Carismático (1949 Cullen Blvd., Houston, TX 77023). Este evento está diseñado para toda la comunidad en una noche de velación, alabanza y oración al Santísimo Sacramento. La Vigilia Pastoral es organizada en su totalidad por los jóvenes adultos hispanos (18-35) de los varios grupos y movimientos que están bajo la dirección de la Oficina de Jóvenes Adultos y Pastoral Universitaria. El estilo litúrgico que se experimenta y vive durante la noche se caracteriza por la alabanza y adoración carismática. El evento atrae a más de 1000 jóvenes adultos y a más de 400 adultos cada año. 29 de enero 2022: Entrenamiento para Facilitadores Fe y Finanzas Familiares-  en St. Dominic Center (2403 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77021) 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Salón 140, edificio 2. La Oficina del Ministerio de Vida Familiar (FLM) invita a esta formación, en la que capacitamos facilitadores para que establezcan grupos de Fe y Finanzas Familiares en sus Parroquias.  Las metas de este Programa son: Aprender a gestionar la economía familiar según los criterios de Dios; aprender a manejar el dinero de un modo sano y efectivo y desarrollar hábitos financieros saludables que cambien su vida y la de su familia. Es un Programa basado en las Escrituras, en nuestra Tradición  Católica y sus Documentos Magisteriales. Precio de la Formación: $65. 11-13 de febrero 2022: Retiro El Viñedo de Raquel- La Oficina de Actividades Pro-Vida ofrecerá el siguiente retiro de ‘El Viñedo de Raquel’ para la sanación despues del aborto provocado. Este retiro es parte del ministerio del Proyecto Raquel. Todas las consultas e inscripciones son estrictamente confidenciales. 16 de febrero 2022: Sínodo sobre la Sinodalidad para jóvenes adultos- Todos los jóvenes adultos están invitados a participar en el Sínodo sobre la Sinodalidad el 16 de febrero de 7:00 - 9:00 pm. El Papa Francisco invita a todo el Pueblo de Dios a participar en el proceso del Sínodo para descubrir dónde está obrando el Espíritu en los corazones individuales y en la Iglesia en su conjunto. ¡Ven y comparte tus pensamientos sobre cómo la iglesia ha caminado contigo! No hay costo. Se requiere inscripción. Inscríbete antes del 24 de enero. El evento del Sínodo se llevará a cabo en el salón 204 del Edificio Morkovsky dentro del Centro de St. Dominic. Ambas sesiones se llevarán a cabo de 7:00 pm-9:00 pm.
