PREPARING THE LECTORS: A Foundational Workshop for Lectors and Those Who Train Parish Lectors

The work of preparing excellent Lectors for ministry within the parish community is an ongoing process. This workshop will be addressed to those who have responsibility for parish Lector formation and for those who serve in this important ministry. It will present the theology and tools while spending some time to model the process.

Hospitality is one of the most ancient hallmarks of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Ushers and greeters are the face and welcoming hands of Christ and the parish community to all who gather for worship. They serve to maintain an appropriate order in the liturgy and are present to minister to needs of the faithful. This workshop will assist hospitality coordinators to address the liturgical role of the usher and greeter; provide suggestions for establishing an atmosphere of welcome; and includes important recommendations for safety and service.

This workshop is designed to cover basic principles for sacristans. A wide variety of topics will be explored including: the ministry of the sacristans; proper care of the vessels and linens; care and storage of vestments; everything you want to know about candles; care and storage of incense; regular maintenance and spring cleaning; basic checklists for celebrations.
