EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
Employing the formation guidelines for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, participants will explore the: Ecclesial nature of the Eucharist; Eucharist as sacrifice, memorial, banquet, and school of active love for neighbor; Real Presence of Christ; Eucharistic reverence; Norms for the Distribution and Reception of Holy Communion
PREPARING THE LECTORS: A Foundational Workshop for Lectors and Those Who Train Parish Lectors
The work of preparing excellent Lectors for ministry within the parish community is an ongoing process. This workshop will be addressed to those who have responsibility for parish Lector formation and for those who serve in this important ministry. It will present the theology and tools while spending some time to model the process.
Hospitality is one of the most ancient hallmarks of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Ushers and greeters are the face and welcoming hands of Christ and the parish community to all who gather for worship. They serve to maintain an appropriate order in the liturgy and are present to minister to needs of the faithful. This workshop will assist hospitality coordinators to address the liturgical role of the usher and greeter; provide suggestions for establishing an atmosphere of welcome; and includes important recommendations for safety and service.
FORMATION FOR ALTAR SERVER COORDINATORS
Well formed servers foster an overall sense of prayer by their confident and reverent service. This workshop is designed for Altar Server Coordinators and will review the ministry and formation of altar servers. We will explore methods for the ongoing formation of servers and the comprehensive development of the ministry in the parish. The workshop is developed using server guidelines prepared by the Office of Worship and the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission. One (1) binder will be provided per participant with resources for parish use.
