Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Eucharistic Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament
As Catholics, we adore God alone. The acknowledgment of God as God, Creator, and Savior, the Lord and Master of everything that exists. Through worship and prayer, the Church and individual persons give to God the adoration which is the first act of the virtue of religion.
Eucharistic Exposition is a liturgical rite in which God is adored in the Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament, which is the sacramental real presence of Christ. In the Rite of Exposition, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in a monstrance or a ciborium and either placed upon an altar or carried in procession. The liturgy is a public communal ritual which includes sacred hymns, canticles, litanies, Sacred Scripture, prayer petitions and other prayers are made. An essential element is also silent prayer and reflection.
