St. Mary Seminary, established in 1901, exists for the personal, spiritual, academic and pastoral preparation of men for the Roman Catholic priesthood. Candidates for the diocesan priesthood reside at St. Mary Seminary and are involved in an extensive program of priestly formation, based on the Program of Priestly Formation of the U.S. Catholic Bishops.
St. Mary Seminary offers an opportunity to grow and develop in one of the most multicultural cities in the United States. The majority of our formation and academic faculty are bilingual in Spanish and English. All of our faculty have broad and extensive ministerial experience in multicultural settings. The St. Mary Seminary experience fosters the human and spiritual maturity of the candidates as they grow in their relationship with the person of Jesus Christ and in their desire to serve the People of God in their local diocese. The seminary formation program fully integrates the following components of ministerial preparation:
- Human Formation
- Spiritual Formation
- Pastoral Formation
- Intellectual Formation
