HOUSTON — The upcoming Archdiocesan Young Adult Day of Service offers young adults in the Archdiocese an opportunity to answer the pope’s 2013 World Youth Day Message: “Jesus is calling you to be a disciple with a mission! Three simple ideas: Go, do not be afraid, and serve.”

Young Adult Day of Service, sponsored by the Young Adult and Campus Ministry of the Archdiocese, is set for Saturday, March 17 at 8 a.m. Young adults can join together for a day of service, prayer and fellowship where teams help serve those in need, including Harvey relief efforts, the sick, poor, hungry, homeless, prisoners and immigrants.

The day will begin at St. Dominic Chancery Auditorium, located at 2403 Holcombe Blvd. in Houston, with Mass at 8:30 a.m. celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop George A. Sheltz followed by breakfast.

The teams will then head out across to the city to serve at places like Casa Juan Diego, Ronald McDonald House, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Dominic Village Senior Care Community and other organizations. The projects will end by no later than 3 p.m.

$10 registration includes t-shirt and breakfast. Deadline to register is March 5. Online registration required to participate. To view a list of available service projects and to register, visit
