Upcoming conference for catechetical leaders set for Oct. 19 to 20

HOUSTON — Presented by the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis and the Office of Adolescent Catechesis and Evangelization, the Proclaim Conference is an event for parish catechetical leaders and catechists, featuring national speakers on the topics of evangelization and catechesis.
The conference will be held on Oct. 19 to 20 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church’s St. Andrew Center in Houston, located at 19222 Tomball Pkwy. in Houston. Sessions will be held in English, Spanish and Vietnamese and is open to all catechists, clergy, religious and other adults serving in ministry. The theme ‘Radiant with Joy’ draws from Pope Francis’ recent apostolic exhortation ‘The Joy of the Gospel,’ which focuses on being missionary disciples of Jesus.
English keynote speakers include national speaker Chris Padgett; Brother Lake Herman, OFM; and Matthew Johns of Catholic Charities. Saturday morning’s Spanish keynote speaker is Bishop Daniel Flores of Brownsville. Saturday morning’s Vietnamese keynote speaker is Brother Phong Trân of the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
Additional speakers feature Roberto Rojas of Catholic Relief Services; Father Kenneth Boyack, CSP; David Dziena; Michael Gormley; Sister Bernadette Hoài Huong Nguyen, OP, and many more including several Archdiocesan and parochial ministry leaders such as James Barrette; Lazaro Contreras; Gabriela Karaszewski and many more.
