April 30, 2013

HOUSTON — Did you know that you can ‘Like’ the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston on Facebook and ‘Follow’ the Archdiocese on Twitter?
In his message for the 47th World Communications Day in 2013, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said that, “The digital environment is not a parallel or purely virtual world, but is part of the daily experience of many people, especially the young... Believers are increasingly aware that, unless the Good News is made known also in the digital world, it may be absent in the experience of many people for whom this existential space is important.”

Sean O’Driscoll, web content manager and social media strategist for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, said, “Our Facebook account is very active, and we are gearing up to launch our Archdiocesan Twitter account soon.”

Users also have the ability to follow other ministries and departments within the Archdiocese.

“Various Archdiocesan offices also have an active presence on Facebook and/or Twitter, and we also work with over 100 parishes, schools and ministries throughout the Archdiocese who are active on social media,” O’Driscoll said.
