October 2, 2012
HOUSTON — The Monsignor William D. Steele lecture is set for Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at Nold Auditorium in St. Mary Seminary, 9845 Memorial Dr.
Bishop Daniel E. Flores of the Diocese of Brownsville will discuss current controversies involving the Catholic Church, the recent Human and Health Services mandate and immigration policy. He will examine how the Church’s mission is affected by the shifting character of the secular consensus in the United States and the consequent fluidity of public consciousness and policy.
Bishop Flores will also explore how Catholics might respond to this ongoing dynamic.
