Steps for Students is an annual Archdiocesan-wide event in which all Catholic schools and parish communities come together to support Catholic education. The goal of Steps for Students is to raise awareness of the importance of Catholic education and provide resources for Catholic schools.

To participate in this year's Steps for Students race, there are a few simple ways to sign up. Participants will receive a race day packet, Steps for Students race bib, Steps for Students t-shirt and access to the post-race party.

Participants can register online, during packet pickup day, Feb. 11, or the day of the race, Feb. 18. The information on this page can help with the registration process. †

If you choose...

Interested participants can register online until midnight, Feb. 9 for $10. Visit and drag the mouse over the "participate" tab. When the drop down menu comes up, click on the "Run/Walk" tab and then click "Register online now."

For detailed information on how to register and how to setup an online fundraising page, download the "how to" PDF, or click on the center of the "how to" video to see a step-by-step registration demonstration.

What is the David K. Guite Spirit Award?

Just who will win this year's David K. Guite Spirit Award remains a mystery. Catholic School teams in the Archdiocese are gearing up to compete for the coveted David Guite Spirit Award. In 2007, the Steps for Students committee created the spirit award as a way to honor the memory of a friend and ardent supporter of Catholic education. David Guite was a founding member of the Steps for Students 5K committee and principal of Our Lady of Fatima in Galena Park. The spirit he brought to Catholic education is something that will never be forgotten, and is the heart of the award that bears his name. The award goes to the team that has the greatest show of spirit (number of team members based on percentage of the school's enrollment).
