Diocesan Services Fund campaign for Archdiocesan ministries underway
February 14, 2012
HOUSTON – The annual campaign to support more than 60 Archdiocesan-wide ministries is underway and the local Church is asking parishioners to continue their generous giving to the Diocesan Services Fund.
This year, the theme of the campaign, chosen by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, is "Go forth and bear fruit that will last," taken from the Gospel of John 15:16. The goal of the campaign is to bring forth the fruit of charity, which is born from hope and faith in Christ.
The Diocesan Services Fund supports ministries such as those forming youth in Catholic faith; providing support and preparation for clergy; teaching, evangelizing, worship and outreach to the incarcerated, poor and sick; and programming to strengthen Christian families, among many others others.
The faithful of the Archdiocese have been generous despite tough economic times. Last year, there was a strong response by all parishes, according to the Archdiocesan Office of Development, which coordinates the annual campaign.
The Archdiocese counts on DSF funds to help meet the needs of people struggling throughout our region. No funds are spent towards general administrative expenses of Chancery offices.
