Nationally, Catholic high schools have a 99 percent graduation rate and 97 percent of those graduates go on to college. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston oversees the largest private school system in Texas. More than 18,000 students are educated in the Archdiocese’s 59 Catholic schools, which includes 44 diocesan grade schools, six private elementary schools and nine private high schools.
HOUSTON — Corpus Christi Catholic School is dedicated to a personal and positive approach to learning and discipline. The school is grounded in the values of the Catholic faith and is a multi-cultural community. Corpus Christi has been educating children for more than 50 years, and many of the current students are children or grandchildren of its graduates.
Corpus Christi Catholic School has a motto: “Small school. Big difference.” Corpus Christi offers an enrichment program for students, band, art, gardening, music and yearbook in addition to the typical foundation classes. The teaching style is hands-on and multi-sensory; with an emphasis of teaching to individual student needs. Students are nurtured in mind, heart and spirit, as well as practicing healthy habits of exercise in physical education.
The students are service-minded. Last year a collection of sleepwear for the Star of Hope was promoted in ‘Wear a pair, share a pair’ day. Students collected items for the soldiers in Iraq and boxed them, and a teacher took them all to be shipped to her son’s unit. Students learn through participation in the Juvenile Justice Mock Trial Program, the Archdiocesan science fair and spelling bee.
