5th annual Senior Arts & Craft Event to be last

HOUSTON — The fifth and final annual Senior Artisan Arts and Crafts Event, sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office of Aging, is set for Thursday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, which will be held at the St. Dominic Auditorium, located at 2403 Holcombe Blvd., showcases the skills and talents of older adults from around the Archdiocese, featuring only handmade items by 36 different vendors. Food will be provided by St. Joseph Seniors.
The event, free for all participants, was established as a model to be replicated by senior groups in the parishes. Kathy Bingham, Director of the Archdiocesan Office of Aging, said several parishes have started their own events focused on displaying handmade items. “Although this is the last of the annual Archdiocesan craft fairs by our seniors, the Office of Aging will continue to act as a consultant for any parish senior group wishing to start their own craft fair,” she said.
