500 Years is a fount of faith for Filipino Catholics

HOUSTON - Echoing off the exterior walls of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, a rhythmic song brought the expansive but usually sleepy green adjacent to San Jacinto street to life. That Tuesday evening, on April 26, performers, Catholics and clergy from Galveston-Houston’s Filipino Catholic community brought faith, culture and tradition to Houston from their homeland of the Philippine some 9,000 miles away.

Daniel Cardinal DiNardo celebrated a special Mass, which was a local celebration of the special jubilee celebration commemorating five centuries of Christianity in the Philippines, that drew to a close a months-long series of events that began in September 2021.
