The Catholic Church holds firm in its belief that the family unit or “domestic Church” is the building block or principle cell of a just society. The Cardinal’s Circle provides Inner City Catholic School students a path toward success

Founded in 2010, the mission of The Cardinal’s Circle is to help Inner City Catholic Schools maintain a standard of academic excellence in curriculum and staff. The Cardinal’s Circle also helps these 13 schools provide tuition assistance required by a large portion of their student population.

Starting this month, Annunciation Catholic Church in downtown Houston begins a full year of celebrations recognizing its 150th anniversary as a “crown jewel” of Houston and the “mother” church of all Catholic parishes in Houston.

DiNardo congratulates deacons on 50 years of service, urging expansion for future

More than 2,000 deacons and their wives from around the U.S. gave a standing ovation to Daniel Cardinal DiNardo at the National Diaconate Congress as he congratulated them on the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the diaconate, urging them to be “emissaries” of service to priests, their churches and the vulnerable of their communities.

Early childhood conference attracts record crowd

A record crowd of more than 300 people who work in early childhood ministries across the Archdiocese attended the recent annual conference, titled “Let the Children Come,” to hear from experts on a range of subjects, from effective discipline and intentional teaching to developing a conscience and addressing different learning styles.

Bishop McCarthy was a ‘true son of the Church’

Bishop John E. McCarthy, who served in Houston and Austin and provided national leadership for the Church in its work to address systemic poverty, died Aug. 18 at his home in Austin surrounded by his family. He was 88.
