Award dinner to support the education of priests from China

Experience Chinese culture and support Chinese clergy when the Spiritan China Education Fund for Advanced Formation hosts its second Father Matteo Ricci, SJ, Dinner on Tuesday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at Ocean Palace Restaurant, located at 11215 Bellaire Blvd. in Houston. The benefit dinner seeks to raise funds for the formation of Chinese priests and improve awareness for the situation in the Church in China.

Asian cultures welcome Christmastime Liturgies

Surrounded by hundreds of red and white poinsettia and brightly lit Christmas trees, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo celebrated Christmas Eve Mass with the Vietnamese Catholic community in the George R. Brown Convention Center. Three days prior, Cardinal DiNardo also celebrated the Grand Archdiocesan Simbang Gabi Culmination Mass with the Filipino Catholic community at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Spring Dec. 21.

Archbishop Miller explores ‘Beauty and the Sacred’ at upcoming liturgical conference, Jan. 23 to 26

At the upcoming Southwest Liturgical Conference (SWLC) Study Week, “Encountering the Sacred: Beauty and the Liturgy,” Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, will serve as the opening keynote address and will focus on setting the tone of the week’s conversations towards an “understanding [of] what is meant by beauty, sacred beauty, and how ... different liturgical expressions contribute to a more complete understanding of the Paschal Mystery,” according to organizers.
