U.S. Bishops’ President Urges Prayer and Support for All During Extreme Winter Weather and Storms

Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) urges prayer and support for all those who have died and been injured in the recent winter storms, and encourages hope and generous support at the beginning of the Lenten season.
Archbishop Gomez’s full statement follows:
"I join my brother bishops in praying for all those who have died and been injured in the recent winter storms. We pray especially for those without power and heat and for first responders who are offering assistance to those with urgent needs. In our Lenten almsgiving, let us find concrete ways to help our brothers and sisters. I entrust those who are suffering to the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother Mary. May she grant them all comfort and peace.”

El arzobispo José H. Gomez de Los Ángeles, presidente de la Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de Estados Unidos (USCCB) hizo hoy un llamado a la oración y apoyo a todos los que han muerto y quienes han resultado heridos en las recientes tormentas de invierno, al tiempo que alienta la esperanza y el apoyo generoso al comienzo de esta Cuaresma.
La declaración completa del arzobispo Gomez es la siguiente:
"Me uno a mis hermanos obispos para orar por todos los que han muerto y resultado heridos en las recientes tormentas invernales. Oramos especialmente por los que no tienen electricidad ni calefacción y por los socorristas que ofrecen ayuda a los que tienen necesidades urgentes. En nuestra limosna de Cuaresma, encontremos formas concretas de ayudar a nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Encomiendo a los que sufren al Corazón Inmaculado de nuestra Santísima Madre María. Que les conceda todo consuelo y paz”.
