Statement Regarding Father Michael Sullivan, LC

December 7, 2019

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston recently learned that Father Michael Sullivan, LC, a priest of the Legionaries of Christ, was removed from ministry for having inappropriate relationships with several adult women, in which he breached both physical and emotional boundaries.   We also received a report that he engaged in inappropriate conversations with a female youth.

While never assigned by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to a particular parish or ministry, Father Sullivan may have celebrated an occasional Mass filling-in for diocesan priests primarily at parishes in the northern region of the Archdiocese, near the Legionaries of Christ community residence in Spring, Texas.

Cardinal DiNardo and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston remain committed to ensuring that our churches and schools are places where all people are safe to encounter the goodness of God.  If you wish to make report regarding Father Sullivan, please call Sister Gina Iadanza with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston at 713-652-4475.

We ask for your prayers for anyone who has ever been hurt by clergy in the Church.
