Nov. 12 Mass in honor of U.S. Veterans Day and U.S. Marines Birthday

U.S. Veterans Day and the U.S. Marines 248th birthday will be celebrated before an 11 a.m. Mass scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway in downtown Houston, presided by pastor Father Jeffrey Bame.
The pre-Mass ceremony, organized by the Semper Fi #3 Memorial Honor Detail, will gather in prayer alongside parishioners in thanksgiving, said organizer Andrew Ortiz, Gunnery Sgt. USMC retired. Starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, special greetings and acknowledgements will commence, he said.
“In keeping with the Marine Corps tradition, every year around the Corps’ Nov. 10 birthday, Marines around the world gather to celebrate the history and honor of the Corps.,” Ortiz said. “We are also honoring all those who served on Veterans Day that falls on November 11 to honor the more than 19 million men and women who have served in the U.S. military.”
