Ash Wednesday Photo/Video Opportunities

Catholics will mark the onset of Lent with Ash Wednesday on March 5. Throughout the day, hundreds of thousands will attend Masses and Services and receive ashes across their foreheads in a ceremony known as the “imposition” of ashes. The ashes symbolize penance and are a reminder of our mortality.

Lent is the 40-day liturgical season during which Catholics prepare for the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. The preparation includes fasting, prayer and works of charity.

The media are invited to the following parishes to take footage of the imposition of ashes. Non-obstructive photography and general videotaping are allowed at the following locations.
