December 11, 2017

On Christmas Eve, an expected 5,000 Vietnamese Catholics from around the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will join together to celebrate the birth of Christ at the annual Vietnamese Christmas Vigil Mass. The Mass will begin at 6 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston.  The event is hosted by the Vietnamese Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Reconciliation will be available before Mass beginning at 4:00 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., the statue of the Infant Jesus will be blessed and placed in the nativity.  Cardinal DiNardo will celebrate the Mass, assisted by priests, deacons, altar servers, and representatives from all Vietnamese parishes of the Archdiocese and various religious organizations.  The Mass is open to all.

There are an estimated 35,000 to 40,000 Vietnamese Catholics in the Archdiocese, and the numbers continue to rise.
