Closing and repurposing of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is saddened to announce that drastically reduced enrollment rates in recent years have forced the closing of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, located at 6220 La Salette in Houston, at the end of this school year.
The Archdiocese worked tirelessly with school and parish leaders over the past few years in an effort to increase enrollment and streamline costs; yet the school has experienced a 70 percent reduction in its student population over the past five years. The current 33 students include eighth graders, who will be moving on to high school next school year. The students in lower grades are being encouraged to enroll in other Catholic schools within the Archdiocese.
The Archdiocese is currently exploring the possibility of repurposing the St. Peter Catholic School buildings and campus for use as a career and technical high school.
The Archdiocese will continue working with the current students and their families to make this transition as seamless and organized as possible.
