Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to Welcome Five New Priests (1)

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, Catholics throughout the Houston-Galveston area will welcome five new priests when Daniel Cardinal DiNardo ordains David Angelino, Jeffrey Bame, Simon Kipiti, Elias Lopez and Richard McNeillie at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway in downtown Houston.

Father Brendan Cahill of Galveston-Houston named new Bishop of Victoria

Pope Francis named Father Brendan Cahill of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Victoria, Texas. Since 2010, Bishop-elect Cahill had been serving as the Director of Clergy Formation and Chaplaincy Services and Vicar for Clergy for the Archdiocese when the announcement was made by the Vatican, April 23.

1,400 Educators Celebrate a New School Year with Auxiliary Bishop Sheltz

On Friday, August 8, more than 1,400 teachers and school administrators from primary Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will celebrate the beginning of the new school year with a Mass and award presentation led Auxiliary Bishop George A. Sheltz at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Pkwy., Houston. The Mass starts at 9:30 a.m.

As our nation prepares to celebrate its freedom and the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, Catholics in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and across the country are urged to participate in the third annual Fortnight for Freedom, June 21 to July 4, 2014. This year’s theme is “Freedom to Serve.”

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, Catholics throughout the Houston-Galveston area will welcome three new priests when Daniel Cardinal DiNardo ordains Richard Hinkley, Jesus Jesse Garcia and Oscar Dubon-Romero at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway in downtown Houston.

Catholics gather to pray for Nigerian school girls

This Sunday, May 18, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston’s Office of the Vicar for Catholics of African Descent and the Igbo Catholic Community of Houston will host a prayer service asking for the safe release of the more than 300 Nigerian school girls who were kidnapped last week.

The prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Igbo Catholic Community of Houston Center, 8250 Creekbend Drive, Houston.
