Leonardo Cardinal Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation of the Oriental Churches in the Vatican, and Cardinal Daniel DiNardo celebrated Mass at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church in Houston on Feb. 26. The liturgy was held in conjunction with the dedication of a new pastoral center at Our Lady of the Cedars.

The Maronite Catholic Church, which is in communion with the Holy See in the Vatican, traces its roots back to the earliest days of Christianity in the Middle East. The Maronite Catholic community in Houston has grown from only a handful of registered families in 1991 to over 500 families. Hundreds more Maronite families are also active in the Roman Catholic parishes in the Houston area.
