Prayers for Pope Francis and for Seafarers
July 6, 2021
Pope Francis recently underwent a planned surgery to correct a gastrointestinal problem. The surgery went well and His Holiness is recovering.
On Monday morning I sent a message to the Holy Father conveying the spiritual closeness and prayers of the clergy and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Through Sunday, July 11th, a petition for the Holy Father’s recovery and good health will be included in the Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses celebrated in this local Church. I kindly ask everyone to continue remembering the Holy Father in prayer during his recovery.
In the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Sunday, July 11th is the annual Day of Prayer for Seafarers. Our region is home to the Port of Houston, and many families in our coastal communities continue to make their living on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
The last several months have been especially difficult for those seafarers who have been unable to leave their ships at port due to public health protocols during the pandemic.
Please join me in praying for all seafarers, and in asking for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Our Lady Star of the Sea, pray for us!
