Lord Jesus, Come! That acclamation of praise and yearning, of faith and hope, is proclaimed frequently in the season of Advent. It is a time of waiting anew for the mercy of the Lord, a mercy that will be marked in a distinctive way this coming liturgical year by the celebration of a special Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Statement re. Bishop Elect Lopes

It is with great joy that the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston welcomes the selection of Msgr. Steven Lopes as the first Bishop of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, by His Holiness Pope Francis. This Local Church is grateful to the Holy Father for his personal solicitude in providing a bishop for this relatively new Ordinariate.
