In reality whatever we endure or suffer, however we succeed or fail, whatever can occur to us, when it is put into the light of the Cross, it can shine and be transformed. We need to be attentive to this logic of the cross for it brings genuine insight for us and for the life of the world.

During Lent, the mystery of faith first helps us to enter into this mystery and then to begin to recognize the meaning of the cry of Jesus on the Cross at His death. The suffering Jesus accepted the Father’s will. He did not see His death as a matter of fate, but as truth.

On Jan. 31, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston joined with the other Catholic dioceses of Texas to publish the names of priests credibly accused of sexual abuse or misconduct with minors since 1950. The list can be found on our Archdiocesan website at www.archgh.org.

Each year in Advent we sing the hymn, ”O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” In truth Emmanuel is a name, a divine name. It means “God (is) with us.” The phrase reveals the name of the person who is given this title.
