Art with Heart, raising vital funds for San José Clinic

March 12, 2013

HOUSTON — The heart knows no boundaries when it comes to those who generously support San José Clinic’s Art with Heart annual fundraiser and auction. The event, which will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at the Corinthian, 202 Fannin St., raises vital funds to help those in the community with limited access to health care.

“Art with Heart has been extremely successful in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for San José Clinic,” said Paule Anne Lewis, the organization’s executive director. “This is our seventh year to hold the event. We are featuring artists that have been hand-selected by Patrick Palmer, faculty chair of the Glassell School of Art, as well as other local artists who have contributed pieces, including paintings, photography and jewelry.”

This year, instead of a full sit-down dinner, Lewis said guests will enjoy a light fare prepared by award-winning caterer, Jackson and Company, as well as an eclectic sound from musician Adam Zuniga. There also will be a big board auction offering one-of-a-kind packages including sports outings, private dinners at local restaurants, trips and more.

During the event, San José Clinic will proudly honor Advisory Board Chair Phil Morabito with its 2013 Portrait of Compassion Award in recognition of his many years of service to the clinic.

“Phil is the ultimate example of a volunteer and community leader who generously gives of his time, talent and treasure for a cause he so strongly believes in,” Lewis said. “From putting smiles on children’s faces at Christmas time, to providing smiles for dental patients through his generous donations, his long-standing commitment to providing quality health care to the underserved in our community is a shining example to us all. We could not be more pleased to honor him.”

Morabito is the founder and CEO of Pierpont Communications and he and his family are members of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community in Katy.

Art with Heart offers sponsorships/underwriting opportunities for individuals, businesses or groups that want to attend and/or support the event.
