Message from Dr. Rick Lopez
Dear Friends,
Whether you are a singer or music lover, I would like to invite you to participate in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston’s inaugural Summer Sacred Music Choral Festival. This weekend of fellowship and rehearsal will culminate in a performance of a masterpiece in the choral and orchestral repertoire, Requiem for the Living, by the American composer Dan Forrest.
For this inaugural interfaith concert, we invite church choir members of all denominations to join us in raising our voices in praise and thanksgiving. Please accept and share this invitation with all lovers of sacred music in the greater Houston area!
The hunger for deeper meaning in life, the loss of the transcendent, and a dearth of the beautiful and good, are some of the underlying issues that contribute to society’s problems. The goal of this program is to enrich the hearts and minds of our participants and listeners by offering a meaningful experience that is designed to build connections within our community through the art of sacred music.
This is a wonderful opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra in a fitting venue with some of the most talented liturgical musicians in the greater Houston area. The rehearsals and performance will be conducted by the highly respected Houston choral conductor, artist, and expert in the genre of sacred music, Dr. Kevin Klotz. We eagerly look forward to having you and your fellow church musicians join us in what we hope to be the first of an inspiring annual celebration of sacred music.
Soli Deo gloria,
Dr. R
