Youth Ministry Leader Support & Spiritual Development

Providing opportunities for continual support and spiritual growth of Youth Ministry leaders is a main goal of the Office of Youth Ministry. Through personal visits, retreats, and monthly gatherings these programs help Youth Ministry leaders continue their own spiritual development.

CYM Connect
CYM Connect is a monthly gathering for Youth Ministry Leaders and volunteers within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.  CYM Connects meets betweeen September and May with no meetings in January due to CYM Retreat and no meetings in April due to Holy Week.

CYM Connect informfally begins at 9:30AM with doughnuts and coffee to provide time for networking.  CYM Connect offically begins at 10:00AM with a welcome from the CYM Connect Team followed by community prayer.  During CYM Connect there is time for sharing ideas and best practices of Youth Ministry in the field through Scribble Sessions. Later during CYM Connect there is time for gathering as Vicarates to personally connect with local Youth Ministry Leaders and share with your peers how you life and ministry is going and later pray together as a small group.  After CYM Connect partipants continue fellowship by heading off for lunch together at a local resturant.


CYM Retreat
Offered every second week of January, CYM Retreat is a two day retreat for Youth Ministry Leaders and volunteers within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.  During these two days the retreatants are directed by a leader from the National field of Catholic Youth Ministry.  Retreatants are led through large sessions based on a particular theme, they have time for silence for journaling and personal prayer, time is given for small group communities, and the entire community prayers together liturgically.  The Office of Youth Ministry staff provides fully catered meals and entertainment opportunities during free time.  CYM Retreat is an excellent opportunity for Youth Ministry Leaders to spend two days being renewed in their call to serve the young church of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
