Advocacy


The Office of Youth Ministry is a primary advocate of youth ministry leaders and and youth in leadership formation. The recognition and empowerment of these individuals is an important aspect of formation. Additionally, the department focuses on empowering adults and adolescents to use their gifts and resources to strengthen youth programming throughout the Archdiocese.


Recognition Awards
These awards are given out at our annual Archdiocesan Youth Conference by Cardinal DiNardo, the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and Mr. Brian Johnson, Director of the Office of Youth Ministry.  Nominations for recognition awards come from our Parishes, Catholic High Schools, and the Office of Youth Ministry to honor the adults and young people involved in various aspects of ministry within the Archdiocese.

Archdiocesan Youth Council - Youth Ambassadors for Christ (YAC)
High school adolescents from every Parish and Catholic are nominated by their Parish Youth Ministry Leader or High School Campus Minister to represent their community to the Archdiocese.  The Archdiocesan Youth Council is the voice of the young Church to Cardinal DiNardo, the creative influence in all direct programming offered by the Office of Youth Ministry, and are the animating force in all programming offered by the Office of Youth Ministry throughout the year.

National Evangelization Team (NET)
Each year the National Evangelization Team visists parishes and high schools within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to minister to parishes and Catholic schools with a special focus for communities that do not have a full time youth or campus ministry staff person or team.  NET consists of a small group of young adults who travel the country proclaiming the Gospel to the young church through retreats, leadership programs, and parish & school programming.
