Program Description In 2009, all parishes in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston are urged to participate in the "You've Got The Time" scripture listening program. For as little as 28 minutes a day for 40 days, you can hear the entire New Testament! How many of us have read the New Testament in its entirety? What spiritual fruits would result when we do? What if every Catholic in our archdiocese had the same commitment? What a difference we would make in our community! Digital recordings, produced by an international organization called, "Faith Comes By Hearing," are offered to you through our archdiocesan initiative "Word of God: the Life and Mission of the Church" in 336 languages, so that almost every person will have a chance to hear the New Testament in his or her own "heart language." A children's version of Bible stories is also being offered free for every child aged 7-11 years. Recordings can be obtained in your parish as a part of the "You've Got the Time" program in form of free MP3 CD's. Alternately, you may order the NAB New Testament already downloaded on a Bible Stick MP3 player for $20, or a set of Audio CD's for $20. Prayerful listening to the Word, as we well know through our liturgical experience, bears good fruit in our lives. Each time we hear it, we hear something new or God speaks to us in a new way. This format is so convenient; you can listen in your car, as you exercise, on your computer or through your DVD player as you relax and reflect at home. Families can hear the Word together and reflect on it using the material provided on this web site. Remember the old adage, "The family that prays together stays together?" How much stronger will your relationships be when the Word becomes an integral part of daily life? How long does it take to commute to work, exercise, cook a meal, drive your kids to school, watch your favorite TV show? You DO have the time to do this! Good will gifts received in gratitude for these recordings will provide the similar material to our sister diocese in Comayagua, Honduras. In this way, we help to spread a deeper knowledge and love of the Word to others in great need, forging a deeper sense of solidarity to our universal Church. How to begin? Ask your pastor when your parish will participate in this program.
