|St. Martha celebrates its ‘new church home’|
By Texas Catholic Herald
KINGWOOD — St. Martha Catholic Church opened its doors and welcomed Daniel Cardinal DiNardo on Aug. 13 to celebrate the church’s rite of dedication with approximately 1,600 parishioners, 25 priests, seven deacons and many honored guests in attendance.
Over 1,000 people gathered with Daniel Cardinal DiNardo for the Rite of dedication at St. Martha Church on Aug. 13.
“It was a beautiful evening,” Monsignor Chester Borski, pastor, said. “It is a time for our faith community to celebrate the completion of our new church home.”
On Aug. 19, the deposition of the relics took place at the St. Martha with a Liturgy.
“This is a tradition that dates back to the early church,” Monsignor Borski said. “Mass was said over the tombs of holy people in the catacombs. The relics are to honor those who have lived their lives for God. These relics will remind us of their lives and how we should strive to live in service to God and one another.”
Relics placed under the altar are of: St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Clare of Assisi, St. Patrick, St. Hugh of Lincoln, Saint Leonard of Port Maurice and St. Gabriel, the Passionist.
St. Martha’s invites the community for an open house on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, TX 77635. †
