YOUTH TRACK PROGRAM
Email Bookmark and Share

MY DEAR YOUNG FRIENDS IN CHRIST!

It is with great joy that I greet and invite you to participate in an exciting and dynamic evangelization youth conference that will take place in our Archdiocese. The theme of this youth conference is “Responding to the Call to Holiness in Today’s World” (or simply “Call to Holiness”) and it will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the George R. Brown (GRB) Convention Center in downtown Houston.

During this faith-filled event you have the opportunity to participate and interact with youths from around the Archdiocese. You will be addressed by amazing speakers who will share their experiences and what they know of people like Pope John Paul II, our late Holy Father! Also, the internationally acclaimed Fr. Stan Fortuna, a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, will be in concert to bless us with his extraordinary talents and music!

At last summer’s World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia, our Holy Father Benedict XVI suggested the theme “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps 119:105). With this passage of Scripture, he urged the youth to become familiar with the Word of God so that it would be as a “compass” along life’s paths leading one to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

As you prepare spiritually for this conference, I invite you to reflect on the Sacred Scriptures and especially the word of St. Paul,

“May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to His call, what are the riches of glory in His inheritance among the holy ones.” (Ephesians 1:18)

Come, see, and experience for yourselves the life-changing grace of the Holy Spirit as we gather to deepen our faith and give praise to God. It is my hope that this conference will transform your hearts and enliven your mind to God's Call to Holiness.

Sincerely in Christ,

Daniel Cardinal DiNardo
Archbishop of Galveston-Houston

KICK-OFF THE YEAR

In this year of St. Paul open the doors to Christ! As Cardinal DiNardo points us to St. Paul to open our hearts so that we may know His Call. We invite you to come and see and be part of wonderful day of music, prayer, workshops and sharing.

For all high school youth, this is the opportunity to start the year off with the mission to learn more about what the Call to Holiness is in our Church and our daily lives as part of the “new evangelization”–an event of renewal to mission!

CONFERENCE PRAYER

O Lord,
help us know your will for us.
Let your light shine
in the depths of our hearts that we may know
what you want us to do
with our lives.
Help us believe that you have a special plan for us.
Lord, we know we pass through this life only once;
help us decide
how you want us to make a difference.
Like our Blessed Mother,
give us the wisdom to hear your voice
and the courage to answer
your Call to Holiness.
Above all,
give us peace of mind and heart.
We offer this prayer in the name of
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
