Archdiocesan policy and its implementation
directs that every child from grades K-12 in parishes and
Catholic schools receive a systematic formation in human
sexuality. Catechist formation includes a basic 12-hour content
course in human sexuality catechesis. The course provides a
Scriptural & Christian anthropological foundation for Church
teachings with an introduction to teaching methods, approved
resources, and how to create parent partnerships. Additional
3-hour mini-courses are offered to those catechists seeking
additional formation in working with parents and teens. Family
program models are also available.
