Adolescent catechesis is emphasized within
the context of comprehensive youth ministry. Adult
formation in adolescent catechesis is offered to catechetical
leaders through the Basic Formation for Youth Ministry & Basic
Formation for Catechetical Leadership programs. Formation
in adolescent catechesis is also offered to catechists at
regional catechist days. Leaders are instructed in the use
of the Archdiocesan Catechetical Guidelines for Children and
Adolescents and the selection of appropriate catechetical texts.
Catechists are instructed in age appropriate learning methods,
lesson planning, and the use of catechetical texts and resources
in conformity with the Diocesan guidelines and the
Bishops’ Ad
Hoc Committee to Oversee the Use of the Catechism.
