September, the CCE Office sponsors an "Archdiocesan Catechist
Day" in our archdiocese. Catechists and catechetical leaders are
invited to hear inspiring keynote presentations and attend a
variety of workshops and catechetical modules. The cardinal or
one of our bishops also present catechist certificates and
service awards during the opening prayer service. Textbook
publishers and exhibitors are also present for catechists to
examine their products. Presentations and resources are offered
in English and Spanish. Full attendance at this Catechist Day
counts as six hours of elective credit towards catechist
certification or credit towards one's Renewal Certificate.
In the years when an Archdiocesan Catechist Day is not offered,
a Catechist Certificate Ceremony and Celebration of the
Eucharist is offered at a central location. Certificates are
awarded by the archbishop.
