Calling all law enforcement personnel: Blue Mass set for Sept. 24
September 12, 2016

All active and retired employees of criminal justice agencies, their supporters and their families are invited to attend the annual Archdiocesan Blue Mass, Satururday, Sept. 24 at 5:00 p.m. at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Houston. Bishop George Sheltz will be the presider.  Everyone is encouraged to come and pray for those that put their lives on the line daily for our protection.

Officers are encouraged to wear dress uniforms without the hat; agencies are encouraged to bring equipment for the public to see and to be blessed after the Mass. Agencies invtied to attend include Police Departments, Sheriff Offices, Constables Offices, Correctional Agencies, Probation and Parole Agencies, Children and Adult Protective Agencies, Criminal Justice Education, Institutions, Military Police, Homeland Security Agencies, U.S. Coast Guard, FBI, DEA, DPS, TABC, TPW LEF, and TSA.

This will be the eighth year the Blue Mass is celebrated by the Archdiocese. The event actually dates back to 1934 in Washington, D.C.

Mission Office

The Mission Office promotes mission awareness among the people of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and collects funds for the support of the missions. For this purpose, the Office represents two Pontifical Mission Aid Societies at the Archdiocesan level: the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and Holy Childhood Association. It also represents Catholic Relief Services, which is the international arm of the Catholic Church in the U.S.
