Keeping a 25 year promiseRoy and Doris Dejoie exchanged vows at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in New Orleans on Jan 28, 1961. When they reached their 25th anniversary, the Dejoies decided to attend a Jubilee Mass at Prince of Peach Catholic Church with several other couples.
Afterward, every couple from Prince of Peace made a vow to come together for the Jubilee Mass that celebrates couples reaching the 50 year anniversary mark.
All of the couples from Prince of Peace shared that special moment on Aug. 18 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart expect for the Dejoies. Roy died on March 1, 1988, but holding to her promise Doris decided to attend on that day to fulfill the promise she had made to her husband.
Do you have a picture of your faith — literally?
If you've taken a digital photo of a place, person or event that speaks to you about living your Catholic faith in the Archdiocese, we invite you to share your artwork with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Submit your digital pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org, along with a short (250-word) write-up about why the image speaks to you about God's action in your life, family, community or Church.
We'll post the top pick of the week on the Archdiocese's Daily Vine news blog at www.archgh.org every Friday.
