Your Photos, Your Faith
July 8, 2011

This photo was submitted by Daily Vine reader Dan Mowrey in response to our invitation to readers to submit a digital photo  of a place, person or event that speaks to you about living your Catholic faith in the Archdiocese.

Photo title: Roses for our Blessed Mother

"This photo was taken on the grounds of the Shrine of the True Cross in Dickinson, this past New Year's Day 2011, the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. The image always reminds me of cherished gifts in my personal faith journey. The blue Rosary was given to me several years ago by a kind parishioner at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Although we were strangers, she warmly welcomed me to join their Sunday afternoon Rosary devotion. I had needed a pick-me-up that day, and this simple gift of kindness lifted my soul. I carried this Rosary in my travels and kept it close to my heart during my wife's surgery. I offered this photo of the Rosary freely given to me wrapped around three beautiful roses in full bloom outside the Shrine I hold dear in devotion to the Blessed Mother. I remember the great gift she gave us, by the power of the Holy Spirit and her unwavering love: the great gift of her divine Son to the world ... And now, gazing on this Rosary, I remember the gifts Our Blessed Lord gave to the world on the Cross, the gift of His mother, and of the ultimate gift: His precious life for our salvation." - Dan M.
