| Solemnity of Corpus Christi, June 26 | | June 23, 2011 |
| June 26 is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. At parishes, the most known custom linked to the feast day are outdoor processions of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Benediction. The Feast of Corpus Christi, which dates back to the 13th century, celebrates the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the Last Supper. There will be an outdoor procession with the Blessed Sacrament following the 5:30 p.m. Mass on June 26 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway, Houston. Sung Vespers (Evening Prayer) and Benediction will be in the Co-Cathedral. Father Brendan Cahill is the Mass celebrant. Processions are also planned at other parishes around the Archdiocese, including Corpus Christi Church, 9900 Stella Link Rd., Houston. The parish is hosting the feast day event on June 26, 12:30 p.m. All are invited, with First Communicants encouraged to lead the procession. | | By Jonah Dycus | | | Comments: 0 | |
