MISSION STATEMENT

Responding to the baptismal call to participate in Christ's mission, this process forms adults for leadership in the ministry of the Church within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

EXPLANATION AND FOCUS

"Responding to the baptismal call to participate in Christ's mission..."

Through baptism, all are united to Christ and share in his mission of proclaiming the Good News of God's saving love. This adult formation process serves Christ's mission in the world by developing well-formed leaders in the ministry of the church.

"The adult character of the People of God flows from baptism and confirmation which are the foundation of the Christian life and ministry. They signify initiation in to a community of believers who, according to their state in life, respond to God's call to holiness and accept responsibility for the ministry of the Church."

Called and Gifted (Paragraph #11)
National Conference of Catholic Bishops

"This process forms adults for leadership in the ministry of the Church..."

This multi-level developmental process presents authentic Catholic teachings and current skills for ministry. Implementation of the process addresses the geographic, cultural, lingual, and financial realities of those who wish to participate. Respecting the uniqueness of the individual, theory and practical application are blended to provide an integrated and comprehensive approach to the formation of the person.

"...within the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston."

This formation process is a result of an a continuation of the collaborative efforts of offices and ministries of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Those who implement the process are accountable to the Bishop of the Archdiocese and responsible to the people served.
