Youth Confirmation

The Archbishop has determined that in this Archdiocese the normative age at which those baptized as infants into the Catholic Church receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is the 10th or 11th grade.  He has established this, and other guidelines and ecclesial norms.

Every parish and school must follow these guidelines. Our office offers assistance as needed to explain the guidelines.

Confirmation
The CCE Office and the Archdiocesan Guidelines provide formation opportunities for new Confirmation coordinators, emphasizing sacramental theology, Confirmation catechesis and program administration. The CCE Office also trains experienced coordinators to design and implement Confirmation retreats, develop service opportunities, assist Confirmation candidates with vocational discernment, and offer models of intergenerational formation which involves the entire faith community. Formation is also offered to all catechists ministering with Confirmation candidates, which provides a theological basis for current pastoral practices and practical catechetical methods specific to immediate preparation for Confirmation.
